Yvette Kyriak-Lopez, MSW, LCSW

“My work is grounded in the belief that meaningful mental health care must be both clinically sound and deeply human."

Background

Hi, hola, my name is Yvette (she/her), and I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m a warm, relational, LGBTQ-identifying psychotherapist serving adults across Chicago. I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood, not judged, rushed, or reduced to a diagnosis.

As someone born and raised on the South Side, I bring a deep understanding of the resilience, stressors, and lived realities that shape life in this city. I’ve supported individuals navigating substance use, severe mental illness, grief, and the challenges of aging, especially those who have felt overlooked or underserved by traditional systems of care. Many of my clients come to me when they are exhausted from just getting through and are ready for something more grounded, more supportive, and more real.

I offer therapy in both English and Spanish, so you can express yourself fully and feel understood in the language that feels most natural to you.

Working with me is active and collaborative. We will not just talk about what is hard. We will build practical tools and deeper insight so you can move forward with more clarity and confidence. I draw from evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you understand patterns, regulate emotions, and respond differently to life’s challenges. At the same time, I integrate grief work, Reminiscence Therapy (RT), and Somatic Therapy (ST) techniques to honor your story and help you reconnect with yourself.

Together, we will create a space where your experiences make sense, your emotions feel more manageable, and change feels possible.

If you are looking for therapy that is both compassionate and effective, and deeply rooted in the Chicago community, I would be honored to work with you.
